Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) is urging residents to take precautions against tick bites, following three recent cases of tick-related anaphylaxis in local hospitals.
Tick anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can occur immediately after being bitten by an adult tick. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, hives, dizziness and fainting. Immediate treatment with an adrenaline autoinjector (such as an EpiPen) and calling Triple Zero (000) is critical.
The Clarence Valley community is invited to provide feedback on the Grafton Base Hospital Redevelopment planning documents, with the planning application now on public exhibition. The release of the Review of Environmental Factors planning documentation follows community consultation held in Grafton in September and October of this year, with valuable feedback and input from staff, stakeholders and the community continuing to help shape the redevelopment.
The use of technology to improve radiation therapy for cancer patients will be the keynote topic at Northern NSW Local Health District’s (NNSWLHD) Annual Public Meeting, to be held online at 2.00pm on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
The meeting will feature presentations from NNSWLHD Chief Executive Tracey Maisey and Board Chair Peter Carter on the District’s achievements, challenges and strategic priorities.
Kyogle Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) is celebrating 100 years of service with a Community Open Day highlighting the hospital’s proud history of delivering care and support to the Northern NSW region. The community open day, being held on Saturday 15 November 2025, will reflect on the hospital’s past achievements and ongoing commitment to providing exceptional healthcare, since admitting its first patient on 2 May 1925. Kyogle MPS, co-located alongside a private GP practice, today provides emergency, general medical, and aged care services as part of a flexible model of care tailored to the local community. It includes provision for 28 aged care residents who live on site.

Communities in Lismore are set to benefit from new Key Health Worker Accommodation, which will help attract and retain essential healthcare staff to the region. Lismore is one of more than 20 Key Health Worker Accommodation projects in rural, regional and remote NSW across nine local health districts, as part of the Minns Labor Government’s $200.1 million program.
